Hello and Happy Sunday 🙂
As the weather is getting warmer and I am starting to move around and about, today I will share a short story about a trip from last year. I started writing it last year, but somehow didn’t post it.
The Cliffs of Moher are one of the most popular tourist spots in Ireland. I have been there previously in 2014, but this time I decided to take the boat tour.
The Cliffs of Moher are located in County Clare on the west coast of Ireland, about a 5- 6 hour car drive from Dublin.
I booked one of the organised tours going in the morning and coming back in the evening.
Some Facts about the place:
- Name origins – Cliffs of Moher derive from the Gaelic word “Mothar ” meaning ruined fort, as there was a fort that is lost but left a mark on the place and its name.
- The Cliffs of Moher are home to around 20 different seabird species, including the Puffins. The viewing season for Puffins is from April to July.
- The Cliffs of Moher stretch for about 10 km and form part of the edge of Western Europe.
The first few photos are from the Doolin Pier before going onto the boat.

On the boat:
It was very windy, and the boat was swaying heavily, so it was hard to enjoy the ride. But the views were amazing, I could make just a few shots due to the swaying.

The ride itself was about an hour, after which we went back to the doclands and up to the observation deck, where you can see the cliffs and the water from above.

The authorities have closed the pathway that goes along the cliffs for about 6 km due to erosion and to avoid accidents. That’s why now the walk is way shorter than what I remember from 2014.
2014
Here are a few photos from 2014, when the erosion wasn’t so bad, and a visitor could go along the cliffs for a longer and more adventurous walk.

In the Photo below, you can see how close to the edge you could go before:

This is not possible today, but you still can enjoy amazing views and some history at the visitor center.

The 2014 photos are not the best quality as they are from a phone, but still good memories.

Let’s see what adventures this summer will bring 🙂
Enjoy the warm weather whenever you are 🙂
