Blue Spirulina smoothie

Happy Friday Everyone,
As summer is approaching, I decided to start more often preparing smoothie recipes and lately, I am adding spirulina blue or green- summery colours hehe. The taste of the blue one is milder and not as strong as the green one. They have almost the same health benefits, well maybe the blue one has higher antioxidants and proteins level, but as I am currently reading about it will write an article later on with more details 🙂
The blue spirulina is actually extracted from the green one, which is a blue-green micro-algae growing in water. The blue colour is due to the blue pigment phycocyanin. It can be used in a variety of recipes and is a good supplement to add to your diet or just try something blue 🙂

Servings: 2 Time: 5 min
Ingredients:
  • 200 ml plant-based milk or normal
  • 1 medium frozen banana
  • 50 gr blueberries
  • 1 tbsp. coconut cream

Garnish:
  • 1 tsp. yogurt or sour cream
  • dry or fresh rosemary
  • blueberries or coconut flakes
